Who turns up

The plumbers you'll actually meet.

Every plumber at Ferrule & Wren is on staff, not hired by the job. The one who answers your booking owns it from the first call to the clean-up: they look, explain the fix and the price, do the work and check it with you before they pack the van.

  • Licensed, background-checked and on our payroll
  • Floors covered and shoes off before tools come out
  • The same plumber returns if anything needs a second visit

Why Ferrule & Wren

Plumbing without the guesswork.

Four things that hold on every job, from a dripping tap to a new boiler.

A plumber servicing an open wall-hung boiler

Once we have seen the job you get a written price, and that price is what you pay. If we find anything else, we stop and ask before doing more.

The plumber who finds the fault is the one who fixes it. No hand-offs, and no telling your story twice.

Dust sheets go down and shoe covers go on before any work starts. Old parts, packaging and offcuts leave in our van.

Parts and labour are guaranteed for 12 months, and the term is written on your invoice. If the repair fails in that time, we come back and put it right.

Questions

Asked before every first visit.

Plain answers on emergencies, heaters and prices. Something else on your mind? Call us on Your phone number.

Yes. The emergency line is answered around the clock, and a plumber on call is sent out for leaks, bursts and loss of heat or water at any hour.Example terms — set your emergency hours in the site settings.

Find the stop valve and turn it clockwise until it stops: it is usually under the kitchen sink or where the supply pipe enters the house. Switch off the water heater if it is leaking, and move anything that should stay dry.

An emergency visit carries a set call-out fee, told to you on the phone before anyone sets off. The repair itself is priced the same way as any other job, on a sheet you agree first.EXAMPLE — set the call-out fee in the site settings.

We give you a time window when you call and send a text when the plumber is on the way, so you are not left guessing.Example figures — set arrival times in the site settings.

We test the heater first. If a part such as a thermostat, element or valve is at fault, we repair it. If the tank is corroded or the unit is near the end of its life, we show you why and price both options.

A tank suits households that draw a lot of hot water at once; a tankless unit saves space and heats on demand. We look at your supply, venting and usage before recommending either.

Most like-for-like swaps are done in a day, with hot water back the same afternoon. Moving the heater or changing type can add a second day, and we tell you that up front.Example timings — set these in the site settings.

Yes. We drain it, disconnect it and take it away for recycling, and leave the space swept.

Yes. The plumber looks at the job, writes the price on a sheet and starts once you agree. If something hidden changes the work, we stop and price it before going on.

A quote for planned work, such as a bathroom or a repipe, is free. A diagnostic visit for a fault is charged and taken off the repair if you go ahead.Example terms — set these in the site settings.
